Oman FM, UN chief discuss regional developments, call for de-escalation and dialogue

MUSCAT : Oman’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held a telephone call with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday to discuss regional developments and efforts to ease tensions, Oman’s Foreign Ministry said.

The two sides reviewed a number of regional developments and their humanitarian implications, as well as efforts aimed at reducing escalation and creating conditions for the resumption of dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

Guterres praised Oman’s constructive role in supporting diplomatic efforts and bringing different perspectives closer together, stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation between Oman and the United Nations to advance de-escalation efforts and humanitarian responses.

Al Busaidi, for his part, underscored the need to intensify diplomatic efforts, exercise wisdom and restraint, and provide space for political and diplomatic initiatives to contain tensions.

He said addressing outstanding issues through peaceful means would contribute to strengthening security, stability and peace across the region.
