MUSCAT : The ministry said the performance reflects continued efforts to develop Oman’s standards and metrology system, which plays a key role in strengthening national economic competitiveness by setting technical benchmarks for products and services and helping them meet requirements in domestic and international markets.

Under its 2026 plan, Oman is preparing and reviewing around 1,567 unified GCC draft standards, including approximately 325 drafts prepared by Oman, in addition to 16 national draft standards.

The standards programme covers a broad range of economic sectors, including petroleum products, construction materials, food, electronics, energy efficiency, electricity, logistics, renewable energy, digital transformation and tourism.

The ministry said developing standards and metrology helps raise levels of quality, safety and efficiency while supporting the needs of industrial, commercial and technology sectors.

The standards system also helps Omani products meet technical requirements in different markets, potentially reducing technical barriers to trade and strengthening the competitiveness of locally produced goods and services.
