MUSCAT : The total number of passengers stood at 7,689,967, compared with 8,366,273 during the same period in 2025.

The data also showed that the number of international flights arriving at and departing from Muscat, Salalah and Sohar airports reached 45,904 flights, down 9.5 percent from 50,747 flights recorded during the corresponding period last year.

Muscat airport handles 6.85 million passengers

Muscat International Airport recorded 49,315 international and domestic flights by the end of July 2026, a decrease of 7.3 percent compared with 53,170 flights during the same period in 2025.

Passenger traffic through the airport fell by 8 percent to 6,855,942 passengers, compared with 7,453,204 passengers a year earlier.

International flights through Muscat International Airport declined by 8.4 percent to 43,970 flights, while the number of passengers travelling on international services dropped by 9 percent to 6,164,584 passengers.

Domestic traffic, however, recorded growth. The number of domestic flights increased by 3.1 percent to 5,345 flights, compared with 5,184 flights last year. Domestic passenger numbers also rose by 2 percent to 691,358, up from 677,837.

During July 2026, Omani nationals recorded the highest passenger movement through Muscat International Airport, with 204,591 passengers, including 95,111 arrivals and 109,480 departures.

Indian nationals ranked second with 169,751 passengers, comprising 99,958 arrivals and 69,793 departures, while Bangladeshi nationals came third with 46,665 passengers, including 23,171 arrivals and 23,494 departures.

Salalah Airport recorded 5,569 international and domestic flights by the end of July, down 5.3 percent compared with 5,881 flights during the same period last year.

Passenger numbers fell by 8.4 percent to 797,620, compared with 870,616 passengers in 2025.

International flights at Salalah Airport declined sharply by 30.8 percent to 1,864 flights, while international passenger traffic dropped by 32.9 percent to 246,257 passengers.

In contrast, domestic flights increased by 16.2 percent to 3,705, while domestic passenger numbers rose by 9.5 percent to 551,363, compared with 503,448 during the same period last year.

Sohar Airport handled 122 international and domestic flights, down 6.2 percent from 130 flights a year earlier. Passenger numbers declined by 24.6 percent to 5,150, compared with 6,831 passengers.

International flights through Sohar increased by 2.9 percent to 70, although international passenger numbers fell by 33.2 percent to 199.

Domestic flights declined by 16.1 percent to 52, with passenger traffic dropping by 24.2 percent to 4,951 passengers.

Meanwhile, Duqm Airport recorded 326 domestic flights by the end of July 2026, a decline of 9.4 percent compared with 360 flights during the same period last year.

Passenger numbers at Duqm Airport also fell by 12.3 percent to 31,255, compared with 35,622 passengers in the corresponding period of 2025.
