MUSCAT: The ROP said that behind many beggars is a network that exploits and manages them, calling on members of the public to support those being exploited by reporting such cases.

Residents and citizens can report suspected begging and exploitation to the authorities through the dedicated number 1166.

As per oman’s Penal Code, a one-year prison term and a fine of RO 100 will be imposed on anyone caught begging in mosques, streets, public or private places, or shops.
