Ministry of Labour conducted 3,792 inspection and monitoring visits to establishments efforts to ensure compliance with labour regulations, with 856 establishments found to be non-compliant and 27 repeat violation cases referred to the Public Prosecution.
MUSCAT: The inspection results cover the ministry’s monitoring of compliance with provisions governing labour relations and highlight a range of measures, from guidance and warnings to enforcement action against establishments that repeatedly violate the rules.
Of the 3,792 visits conducted, 2,936 establishments were found to be compliant, while 856 were identified as non-compliant. The ministry said the inspections were aimed at promoting compliance and addressing violations through appropriate measures.

The inspection programme included 72 inspection campaigns, 116 repeat inspections, 395 follow-up inspections and 3,209 comprehensive inspections.
The ministry’s approach included re-inspections, verbal warnings, and advice and guidance depending on the circumstances and compliance status of establishments. The figures show 116 re-inspections, 395 verbal warnings and 3,209 instances of advice and guidance.
In cases involving establishments that had previously been cited for violations, 29 violations were issued against repeat offenders. Of these, 27 cases were subsequently referred to the Public Prosecution, signalling a move towards stronger enforcement where non-compliance persists.
