MUSCAT: Data from the Supreme Judiciary Council indicate that marriages between Omanis and foreign nationals continue to form a significant part of the country’s marriage statistics. Of the total marriages recorded, 640 involved Omani women marrying non-Omani men.
The divorce figures for the same period amount to roughly one divorce for every six marriages involving an Omani and a foreign national, highlighting the importance of continued monitoring and analysis of family stability indicators, according to the Ministry of Social Development.
The Ministry’s Department of Family Guidance and Counselling assesses the statistics alongside the circumstances and underlying causes of individual cases rather than viewing them solely as numerical indicators. Such analysis helps authorities develop preventive and therapeutic programmes aimed at strengthening family stability and addressing challenges that may arise during marriage.
