DARWIN: Bangladesh secured their first Test victory over Australia on Sunday, completing a commanding nine-wicket win in Darwin after producing a dominant all-round performance against the hosts.
Set just 57 to win, Bangladesh suffered an early setback when Tanzid Hasan was dismissed without scoring. Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque ensured there would be no further trouble, however, steering the visitors to the target with unbeaten scores of 25 and 30 respectively.
The victory marked a major milestone for Bangladesh, who had never previously beaten Australia in Test cricket.

Earlier, Mehidy Hasan Miraz completed a five-wicket haul as Australia were dismissed for 284, leaving Bangladesh firmly in control of the contest.
Cameron Green led Australia’s resistance with a fighting 104, but received little support as Bangladesh maintained pressure and struck regularly to prevent the hosts from building meaningful partnerships.
Bangladesh had arrived at the Test as heavy underdogs after enduring a difficult warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI, including a second-innings collapse in which they were bowled out for just 54.
