MUSCAT: South Al Batinah accounted for the larger share, with housing loans exceeding RO 364.4 million, benefiting more than 10,000 Omani families across the governorate’s wilayats, according to figures released by the bank.
In Al Buraimi, the bank’s branch provided more than RO 106.9 million in housing financing up to mid-June, enabling more than 2,900 Omani families to build or own homes.
The figures underline the bank’s role in supporting housing development, stimulating construction-related economic activity and advancing sustainable urban development in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Musa bin Masoud Al Jadidi, CEO of Oman Housing Bank, stated that the bank continues to support urban development in South Al Batinah by providing financing solutions that help citizens own homes and strengthen family and social stability.
He said the bank has signed cooperation agreements with 11 accredited real estate developers to implement integrated residential neighbourhood projects in the governorate. These include the Al Azm neighbourhood project in Rustaq and the Al Naseem neighbourhood project in Barka, under the Sorouh initiative.
The bank also offers citizens financing of up to RO 80,000, with options to obtain financing without waiting in line and simplified procedures through direct coordination with developers and the Eskan platform.
The bank’s Housing programme financed 8,731 Omani families with a total value exceeding RO 424 million across Oman between its launch in January 2024 and mid-June 2026.
The programme operates through a strategic partnership with 11 conventional and Islamic banks, aimed at providing greater flexibility and speeding up the processing of housing finance applications.
Al Jadidi said the programme has helped redesign the housing finance process, improve efficiency and reduce waiting periods, in line with national digital transformation goals and Oman Vision 2040.
In Al Buraimi, he said reducing the waiting period for housing loans from four years to six months had significantly accelerated the processing of housing requests and enabled citizens to implement their projects more quickly.
Construction of new homes was the most common financing request in Al Buraimi, followed by the purchase of new homes and land acquisition.
The bank said its financing has also supported the wider construction ecosystem, benefiting contracting companies, engineering offices, building-material suppliers and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Al Jadidi said providing affordable housing finance to low- and middle-income groups remains among the bank’s priorities, supporting quality of life, social welfare and balanced urban development across Oman.
