Gold edges lower amid Middle East uncertainty

Gold prices edged lower today as uncertainty over Middle East conflict and lingering inflation concerns kept investors cautious ahead of a series of US employment reports due later this week that could offer fresh clues on the Federal Reserve's policy path.

NEW YORK : Spot gold fell 0.3 percent to $4,029.84 an ounce, while US gold futures for August delivery slipped 0.5 percent to $4,029.00 an ounce. Among other precious metals, spot silver declined 0.8 percent to $57.18 an ounce, platinum fell 1.6 percent to $1,616.42 an ounce, and palladium dropped 1.8 percent to $1,251.16 an ounce.
