MUSCAT: As part of its National Risk Register Campaign, the authority advised adventurers to choose licensed tourism companies and certified tour guides, saying this enhances safety and ensures trips are conducted in accordance with approved regulations.
The CDAA stressed the importance of staying on designated trails, informing others about planned routes before setting out, and carrying essential safety and communication equipment throughout the journey.
In the event of getting lost, the authority advised people to remain in a safe location and immediately contact the relevant authorities or their tour guide instead of wandering in search of a way out, warning that aimless movement could increase risks and complicate rescue efforts.
The authority also highlighted that licensed tour guides possess detailed knowledge of approved routes, can assess potential hazards and are trained to respond effectively to emergency situations.
Describing preparation as the foundation of a safe adventure, the CDAA said that every trip should begin with careful planning and end with all participants returning safely.
The authority encouraged the public to download and use the Nidaa (Call) application during emergencies, noting that it enables users to request assistance quickly and accurately share their location with emergency responders.
