TEHRAN : The latest attack struck the passenger terminal at the Shalamcheh border crossing, killing two people and injuring others, according to reports from Iran. The crossing is considered a key route between Iran and Iraq, serving not only religious pilgrims but also major trade movement between the two countries.
Reports also said a storage facility in Ahvaz was targeted. Iranian officials claimed the site was attacked to prevent the repair of civilian infrastructure. Over the past 12 days, roads, bridges and other civilian facilities in Iran have also reportedly been hit.
In another development, Iran’s northwestern region of Kermanshah was attacked for the second time. The area is strategically important as it borders Iraq and hosts several military installations linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The escalation has also triggered concern across the region. Jordan’s army said its air defences intercepted multiple missiles and drones over the past 24 hours. According to the official Petra News Agency, four Iranian missiles and six drones were shot down. A military official said the operation caused no casualties or material damage.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said hostile aircraft sirens had sounded again in the country. Authorities urged citizens and residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe location.
