MUSCAT – Held between June 28 and July 16, the ‘Logistics and Supply Chain Management’ programme was conducted in the governorates of Muscat, South Al Batinah and Al Buraimi. Participants represented businesses operating in trade, transport, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.
The initiative focused on enhancing inventory management, improving service quality and delivery speed, and promoting the use of digital solutions and advanced technologies in logistics and supply chain operations.
Mukhtar bin Abdullah Al Shukaili, programme manager, said the programme is part of efforts to strengthen the efficiency of Oman’s logistics sector and reinforce its role in supporting economic diversification and business competitiveness. He added that the programme was designed to build leadership and management capabilities that would help institutions improve performance and compete more effectively in local and international markets.
Ibtisam bint Darwish Al Zaabi, Director of Majan Training Institute, said the programme targeted business owners and entrepreneurs, helping them develop practical skills to manage logistics operations more efficiently while reducing operational costs. She noted that the institute developed the training content, provided specialist trainers and oversaw the programme’s implementation.

The training was delivered by logistics specialist Ali bin Salem Al Kalbani, who introduced participants to the latest concepts in logistics and supply chain management. Sessions covered supply chain planning, inventory management, transportation, warehousing, distribution and the role of technology in improving operational performance, reducing waste and enhancing customer satisfaction.
As part of the programme, participants undertook field visits to Areej Vegetable Oils & Derivatives in Rusayl Industrial City, Gulf Mushroom Products Company (Oman Mushroom) in South Al Batinah, and Mazoon Dairy Company in Al Sunaynah, Al Buraimi Governorate. The visits provided practical insights into logistics operations, inventory management and the application of modern technologies in supply chain management.
The logistics programme is one of five specialised training initiatives launched by the Oman Chamber to develop private sector capabilities in key economic sectors, including industry, tourism, agriculture, logistics and mining, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The Chamber is scheduled to launch its next programme, Mining Project Management, from July 26 to August 13 in North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah. The initiative will target project managers, entrepreneurs and companies operating in the mining sector, focusing on project management, sustainable mining practices, operational efficiency and workplace safety.
