MUSCAT: Oman’s Telegraph Island development project in Khasab, Musandam Governorate, has reached 83% completion, as authorities move ahead with plans to transform one of the country’s most iconic heritage sites into a major tourism destination.

The project includes a multi-purpose visitor hall, a marine landing platform with a mountain walkway, and two viewing platforms overlooking the island’s natural landscape, according to project details shared by local authorities.

Designed to enhance the visitor experience while preserving the site’s unique character, the development aims to improve access and provide modern tourism infrastructure on the historic island.

The project has also received special recognition at the Architizer A+ Awards, one of the world’s leading architecture awards programmes, highlighting it as one of the notable architectural projects internationally.

Telegraph Island, located off the coast of Khasab, is one of Musandam’s best-known landmarks and is renowned for its dramatic scenery, crystal-clear waters and historical significance dating back to the 19th century.
