ABU DHABI – According to the ministry, the attack killed an Indian national serving aboard the Mombasa tanker. Eight crew members were injured, including four who sustained serious injuries. The injured comprise six Indian nationals and two Ukrainian nationals.
The missile strikes also caused material damage to both tankers after fires broke out on board. The ministry said the fires have since been brought under control.
The Ministry of Defence condemned what it described as a “blatant attack,” calling it a serious violation of international law and a direct threat to regional security and stability.
It said the UAE reserves “its full right to respond” to the escalation and will take all necessary measures to protect its territory, citizens, residents and national interests in a manner that safeguards the country’s sovereignty, security and stability.
The ministry added that the UAE Armed Forces remain at the highest level of readiness and preparedness to confront any threats and are taking all necessary measures to respond decisively to any attempt to undermine the country’s security and stability.
The Ministry of Defence also urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information and to refrain from spreading rumours or unverified reports.
