MUSCAT – The embassy said it is closely monitoring the incident and is coordinating with Omani authorities, the vessel’s management and other concerned stakeholders to support ongoing search and rescue efforts.
In a statement, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the attack on the vessel, saying that 10 of the 11 Indian nationals on board had been rescued so far, while one person was reported missing.
“We thank the Omani authorities for their support,” the MEA said, adding that the Indian Embassy in Oman is actively coordinating with authorities involved in the search and rescue operation.
The MEA expressed concern over the continued attacks on commercial shipping in the region, calling for immediate de-escalation and the conclusion of ongoing negotiations aimed at achieving a diplomatic solution.
India reiterated that targeting commercial vessels and civilian infrastructure must end, stressing the need to restore free and uninterrupted navigation and trade through international waterways in accordance with international law.
