DOHA: Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of Qatar who oversaw the country’s rapid economic growth and emergence as a prominent diplomatic and political force in the Middle East, has died at the age of 74, the Amiri Diwan announced on Sunday.
