MUSCAT : Oman and Iran have held high-level talks on regional security and maritime navigation, with both sides discussing measures to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing tensions in the region.
According to media reports, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, met his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Muscat on Saturday to review bilateral relations and regional developments.
The discussions focused on mechanisms to guarantee the safe transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy and trade corridors. The two ministers also exchanged views on efforts aimed at reducing tensions and strengthening regional stability.

During the meeting, Sayyid Badr reaffirmed Oman’s longstanding position in support of dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred path for resolving disputes and preventing further escalation. He expressed hope that the full implementation of recent understandings would contribute to improving the security situation and enhancing stability across the region.
