MUSCAT – Oman has improved its global standing in the 2026 Environmental Performance Index (EPI), climbing from 55th place in 2024 to 49th in the latest rankings released by the Environment Authority.
The latest achievement also places the Sultanate third in the Middle East, second in the Arab world, and second among GCC countries, highlighting its growing leadership in environmental sustainability across the region.
According to the Environment Authority, the improvement reflects the success of national efforts to support sustainability initiatives, strengthen climate action, preserve biodiversity and enhance environmental protection.
