Hajar bint Khamis Al-Muzaini, OFA Board Member and Chairperson of the Women’s Committee, said local competitions remain a key driver in the growth of women’s football in Oman.
She said the league will provide players with a sustained competitive environment, helping identify emerging talent while improving technical, physical and mental capabilities. The competition will also offer an important platform for monitoring players’ development and strengthening the pool of talent available for Oman’s national teams across different age groups.

Speaking to Oman News Agency, Al-Muzaini said the OFA held an introductory meeting with club representatives after registrations closed. The meeting reviewed the tournament format and regulations, while also addressing organisational and technical requirements to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities ahead of the season.
Preparations will also include training courses and workshops for team administrators, match observers and referees, aimed at enhancing the capability of national cadres and ensuring a professional environment for the league.
The competition will be held in two stages. In the opening phase, teams will compete in their respective groups under a defined qualification mechanism. The leading teams from each group will advance to the second stage, which will be played in a single group through a home-and-away league format.
Teams placed below the qualifying positions will compete in a separate tournament named the Talent Cup, designed to increase the number of competitive fixtures and support the technical development of clubs and players.
