MUSCAT – The initiative allows registered beneficiaries of Zakat under the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs to submit treatment requests through the Ministry of Health’s electronic health portal or via Zakat committees across the Sultanate.

Applications will be cross-checked against official beneficiary lists before eligible cases are referred to the Ministry of Health. Patients will then be matched with waiting lists for surgical procedures and diagnostic radiology services, after which appropriate private healthcare providers will be assigned to carry out the required treatment.

Beneficiaries will be informed of the designated medical facility and appointment dates, while the Ministry of Health and the ‘Athar’ Foundation will continue to monitor cases until treatment is completed.

The initiative is being implemented in line with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to allocate resources for the treatment of those eligible for Zakat, reflecting efforts to strengthen social solidarity and support equitable access to healthcare.

The programme aims to improve quality of life, reduce waiting times, and narrow healthcare gaps by accelerating access to surgical and diagnostic services for eligible patients.

It also includes surgeries and diagnostic radiology services at private hospitals across various governorates of Oman, helping to ease pressure on referral hospitals and speed up treatment delivery.
