MUSCAT – The municipality said its Health Affairs Department, represented by the Health Control Section, carried out extensive inspection campaigns throughout the past month as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen health oversight, safeguard consumer health and ensure compliance with approved food safety standards.
According to the municipality, inspection teams conducted 900 field visits, recorded 150 health violations, issued 60 warnings, and ordered the closure of 25 establishments found to be in breach of health requirements.
The inspections, conducted during both morning and evening shifts, covered a wide range of food businesses, including kitchens, restaurants, cafés, evening food outlets and shops selling mishkak, a popular grilled meat dish.

Dhofar Municipality said legal action had been taken against all violating establishments and stressed the importance of strict compliance with health regulations and preventive measures to protect public health and consumer safety.
The municipality added that inspection and monitoring programmes will continue in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure a safe food environment and maintain service quality for residents and visitors during the 2026 Dhofar Khareef season.
