MUSCAT : A nationwide fundraising campaign launched to support the medical treatment of two Omani children has surpassed its target, raising more than RO1.5 million and highlighting an extraordinary outpouring of generosity from individuals, charitable organisations and philanthropists across the Sultanate.
The Salalah Volunteer Team announced that total donations collected for the treatment campaigns of Ahmed Al Ajmi and Salem Al Shidi reached RO1,515,970, exceeding the amount originally required.
According to figures released by the organisers, RO1,092,000 was allocated to close the treatment campaign for Ahmed Al Ajmi, while RO295,000 was required to complete the campaign for Salem Al Shidi. The remaining surplus will be managed through approved procedures, with details on its allocation to be announced later.

The announcement comes days after a major philanthropic contribution from Sheikh Salem Mustahil Al Mashani, who donated RO405,000 to cover the remaining costs of Salem Al Shidi’s treatment, effectively bringing that campaign to a successful conclusion.
The donation was widely praised on social media and became one of the defining moments of the fundraising drive, reflecting Oman’s deeply rooted culture of compassion and community support.
Organisers said the final figure includes pledged in-kind donations yet to be valued, as well as bank transfers still undergoing settlement procedures.
In a statement, the Salalah Volunteer Team thanked all donors, volunteers and supporting organisations who contributed to the campaign’s success.
“If humanity calls, Dhofar answers,” the team said, describing the response as one of the most inspiring examples of solidarity and collective action.
The campaign brought together several charitable and volunteer organisations, including the Salalah Volunteer Team, Hayah Charity Team, Taqa Charity Team and the Omani Bahjah Orphan Society, alongside thousands of individual contributors from across the country.
For the families of Ahmed and Salem, the achievement marks the end of an emotional fundraising journey and the beginning of renewed hope as both children continue their treatment and recovery.
