Oman re-elected to UN Committee on the Rights of the Child for second consecutive term

The Sultanate of Oman has been re-elected as a member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child for the 2027–2031 term, marking its second consecutive membership in the international body.

NEW YORK – The election took place during the 21st Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The re-election of the Sultanate of Oman to the Committee on the Rights of the Child for the second time in a row confirms the status the Sultanate enjoys internationally, and the keenness of member states to be represented in this important committee.

The membership will provide Oman opportunities to enhance cooperation with other members and contribute effectively to achieving the Committee’s goal of protecting children’s rights globally and supporting the shared ambition of a safe, healthy and prosperous environment for all children.

The Sultanate of Oman is represented on the committee by Dr. Thuwaiba bint Ahmed Al Barwani, who currently holds the position of Vice-Chair of the committee.
