TEHRAN : US President Donald Trump said the negotiations were in their final stages, describing the talks as close to a breakthrough. “We are in the final stages of reaching an agreement that will be very good,” he said.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Tehran is exchanging messages with Washington in what he described as a “very cautious atmosphere.”
The latest diplomatic developments come as Iran and Israel announced a halt to mutual attacks following a brief escalation that marked their first direct clashes since a ceasefire was declared in the broader Middle East conflict two months ago.
Prior to the truce, both sides had carried out strikes, with Israel targeting a petrochemical facility in southwestern Iran, while Iranian officials said Tehran responded with a strike on a similar facility in the Israeli city of Haifa.
