MUSCAT – The decision, issued in accordance with Article 44 of the Common Customs Law of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), will take effect on July 15, 2026 for shipments arriving through land ports. The measure will later be extended to air and sea ports, becoming fully applicable to all imports into Oman from September 15, 2026.
Customs authorities said the regulation is designed to enhance the flow of trade, streamline logistics operations, and improve the handling of goods across entry points in the Sultanate.
The mandatory requirement applies to goods that require transport and handling using wooden, plastic, or metal pallets. However, exemptions will be granted for shipments that cannot be palletized, including bulk materials, heavy equipment, pipes, coils, and large items such as stone and marble blocks.

Authorities emphasized that traders and importers must comply with the new palletization requirements, warning that non-compliant shipments will be returned to their point of origin.
