MUSCAT : The governorate is uniquely characterised by its diverse natural and geographical environments, combining fertile plains, valleys, and mountainous areas. This provides vegetation cover and rich natural pastures, which serve as an essential element and key driver for the success of the beekeeping system.
Eng. Said Mohammed Al Adwi, Director of Agriculture Development Department at the Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate, stated that Sidr honey production reached 86,433 kilograms, while Samar honey production exceeded 71,567 kilogrammes.

He explained that the Directorate continues to intensify its field and extension efforts aimed at supporting beekeepers across the governorate’s wilayats. These efforts include organizing regular and ongoing visits for direct communication with beekeepers to understand their needs, as well as providing immediate and effective solutions to any challenges or obstacles they may encounter in their breeding environments.
He noted that the Directorate places among its top priorities the implementation of a series of awareness programs and continuous training workshops for beekeepers to refine their skills, acquaint them with the latest technologies and scientific methods in apiary management, and enhance the quality of the final product. This contributes to adding value to the Omani honey industry and strengthening its competitiveness in local and regional markets.
