WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump said he believes there is an equal chance of reaching a new agreement with Iran or launching intensified military strikes, according to remarks reported by Axios.
Speaking to Axios reporter Barak Ravid, Trump said the situation could move in one of two directions — either securing what he described as a “good” deal with Iran or escalating military action against the country.
“I think one of two things will happen: either I hit them harder than they have ever been hit, or we are going to sign a deal that is good,” Trump said.

The US president added that opinions within his administration remain divided, with some officials favouring diplomacy while others support resuming military operations.
“Some people would much rather have a deal and others would rather resume the war,” he said.
Trump also revealed he would hold talks later in the day with senior advisers, including envoy Steve Witkoff, former adviser Jared Kushner, and Vice President JD Vance to discuss the ongoing negotiations with Iran.
