MUSCAT : According to the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), the cases stemmed from complaints submitted by consumers who accused the companies of breaching contractual obligations, prompting the Authority to investigate and refer the matters to the competent court.

In the first case, a consumer complained about defects in the supply and installation of marble, alleging that the work carried out did not match the agreed specifications despite full payment being made. After reviewing the case, the court convicted the company of the misdemeanour of failing to provide the service properly under the Consumer Protection Law and imposed a suspended fine of RO 100 along with judicial expenses.

The second case involved delayed marble supply and disputes related to payment and implementation conditions. Investigations confirmed that the company had failed to meet the agreed delivery timeframe, constituting a violation of consumer rights. The court subsequently issued a final judgment convicting the company of failing to provide the service in an appropriate manner consistent with its nature and imposed a fine of RO 300. The related civil claim was referred to the competent division.
