BANGKOK : The Omani delegation is headed by His Excellency Dr. Saif bin Abdullah Al Hadabi, President of the Research and Innovation Authority, who participated as a keynote speaker in a working session on open science applications. He highlighted Oman’s efforts to empower young researchers and build a sustainable research ecosystem that integrates local knowledge into scientific production.
During the session, he reviewed national initiatives aimed at advancing research capacity and strengthening Oman’s contribution to global scientific knowledge.



The delegation also took part in the regional meeting for the Middle East and North Africa, where participants presented a report on bilateral and multilateral cooperation and explored opportunities for enhanced research partnerships across the region.
On the sidelines of the event, the Omani delegation attended several side sessions and meetings of heads of scientific research bodies from the Global South. Discussions focused on strengthening research funding, building capacities, and supporting curiosity-driven science, as well as preparations for the Council’s 2027 annual meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Cape Town, South Africa.
