MUSCAT – Speaking to The Arabian Stories’ Arabic platform ‘Al Sawt’ podcast, Abdulaziz Al Siyabi, Director of the Economic Studies Department at the APSR, said the global shift toward cleaner energy is reshaping electricity systems, with countries increasingly reducing reliance on fossil fuels in favour of renewable sources.

He explained that the energy transition brings multiple benefits, including improved sustainability and efficiency for consumers, reduced carbon emissions, and more optimal use of natural gas in higher-value applications.

Al Siyabi noted that Oman’s regulatory efforts are focused on achieving its renewable energy targets ahead of schedule, driven by the rapid pace of ongoing projects in the sector.

He added that the country’s renewable energy ambitions are aligned with its broader national goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050, reinforcing Oman’s long-term commitment to sustainable energy development and environmental responsibility.
