MUSCAT : Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning launched a series of major real estate and urban development projects on Sunday as the 21st edition of the Oman Real Estate, Design and Construction Exhibition and Conference opened at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, with wide local and international participation.
The ministry announced agreements and strategic projects linked to Oman’s future cities programme, including a partnership and development agreement for residential neighbourhoods 3, 15 and 17 in Sultan Haitham City covering an area of 640,000 square metres and carrying investments exceeding RO320 million ($831 million).
The conference also saw the awarding of infrastructure packages identified as Package 1(A), Package 12 and Package 9(A) within Sultan Haitham City, one of Oman’s flagship urban development projects under its long-term urban expansion strategy.

Separately, the ministry awarded a consultancy tender worth more than RO3 million for supervising construction works by developers in Al Thuraya City, another future city project aimed at supporting integrated urban growth and investment opportunities.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed for the development of the “Downtown Al Khuwair” project, part of broader plans to transform the Al Khuwair district into a modern mixed-use urban centre.
During the conference, five additional agreements were signed to develop integrated residential neighbourhoods across the governorates of Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah.
The projects, implemented under the ministry’s “Sorouh” initiative, carry a combined investment value exceeding RO123 million and are expected to provide 2,167 housing units.
The exhibition and conference are organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and bring together government entities, developers, consultants and international participants to discuss investment opportunities, urban planning and sustainable city development in Oman.
