MUSCAT : Oman Shell, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Royal Oman Police, celebrated the conclusion of the current edition of the Road Buddies program for the 2025/2026 academic year. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Major General Hamid bin Ahmed bin Said Sakroon, President of the National Defense College, at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat, in the presence of senior officials, educators, representatives of key partners, and participating students and their parents.
The closing ceremony marked not merely the culmination of a successful cycle but the beginning of a renewed phase in the program’s journey, one that aims to expand the reach of road safety awareness, embed its principles in students’ everyday thinking, and reinforce safe crossing behaviors. This year’s program activities offered a rich, immersive learning experience that engaged students meaningfully while equipping teachers with the skills and knowledge that earned them the distinction of Safety Ambassadors within their communities. These efforts translated into tangible improvements in both knowledge and practical competencies.
Participating students demonstrated a notably advanced level of awareness and maturity, coupled with a remarkable spirit of innovation. They not only absorbed road safety concepts but reinterpreted them through a contemporary lens that reflects forward-looking perspectives and creative engagement.

Since its inception, the Road Buddies program has witnessed steady growth and a strong, measurable impact. What began as a pilot initiative in just four schools expanded to 33 schools by 2024, and today reaches 70 schools across the Sultanate of Oman, with 35 schools implementing the program each academic term. Thousands of students nationwide have benefited, contributing to a meaningful shift in how road safety is perceived, not merely as theoretical knowledge, but as a lived value and daily practice.
Through its interactive learning tools and classroom innovations, the program has empowered students to become ambassadors of awareness within their families and communities. It stands today as a national model of collaborative effort, uniting partners around a shared vision: safer roads and more aware generations.
