MOSCOW : Russian President Vladimir Putin met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday and expressed hope that peace would prevail in Iran, Russian state news agencies reported.
Putin said Russia hoped the Iranian people would overcome what he described as a “difficult period” and stressed that Moscow would do everything possible in the interests of Iran and other countries in the region.
“We hope that peace will prevail and that the Iranian people will successfully get through this difficult period,” Putin was quoted as saying by state-run RIA news agency.

He added that Russia would continue efforts aimed at supporting stability and security in the region, underscoring Moscow’s interest in safeguarding Iran and neighboring countries amid ongoing tensions.
