MUSCAT : The report outlined key achievements, including efforts to develop the statistical system, improve institutional efficiency, and launch the National Strategy for Statistics and Information (2025–2030). The strategy aims to unify methodologies and enhance data integration in support of national development goals and Oman Vision 2040.
The centre also achieved a milestone by obtaining ISO 27701 certification for data protection and privacy, reflecting its commitment to international standards and strengthening trust in official data.
As part of its digital transformation efforts, the report highlighted the implementation of the first global household income and expenditure survey using artificial intelligence technologies. The initiative improved data quality, accelerated processing, and enhanced the accuracy of economic and social indicators.
In terms of cooperation, 2025 saw the signing of several memoranda of understanding with local and regional entities, including the General Authority for Statistics in Saudi Arabia, alongside academic partnerships aimed at developing national capabilities and promoting research.
The centre maintained an active regional and international presence through hosting Arab statistical meetings and participating in global conferences, reinforcing Oman’s role in advancing statistical cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The report also underlined the importance of data in supporting the national economy through specialised surveys, new indicators, and timely statistical outputs that assist in analysing economic performance and shaping development policies.
It said the 2025 report reflects a continued focus on innovation, data integration, and partnerships, strengthening the role of official statistics in national planning and decision-making in line with Oman Vision 2040.
