Oman Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority to hold seminar on Al Masarrat depression response

The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) will organise a seminar on Monday titled ‘Al-Masarrat Depression: Response and Impact´ to examine the effects of the weather system, review national response efforts, and highlight key lessons learned.

MUSCAT – The event will be held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information.

The seminar will be attended by officials and specialists from various governmental, military, and security agencies.

Discussions will cover several key themes, including a review of the Al Masarrat depression weather conditions, an analysis of its impact across different governorates, and an assessment of national response efforts carried out by relevant authorities. It will also address mechanisms to enhance preparedness and strengthen institutional coordination in handling similar weather events in the future.

In addition, the seminar will focus on field experiences, challenges faced by response teams, and solutions implemented during the event. This aims to improve future emergency response efficiency and raise public awareness on the importance of adhering to official guidelines issued by competent authorities. It will also highlight relevant legal frameworks and procedures, and the role of compliance in improving response effectiveness and reducing risks to life and property.

The programme will further address the ethical and religious dimension of preserving human life, emphasising that safeguarding life is a core objective of Islamic teachings, alongside the importance of taking precautionary measures and avoiding danger zones in line with religious guidance.

The seminar is expected to produce a set of recommendations aimed at improving national emergency response plans, enhancing preparedness for extreme weather events, strengthening knowledge exchange among stakeholders, and promoting the adoption of best practices in crisis management.
