New Delhi: Days after a public fallout with the Aam Aadmi Party over his removal as deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, Raghav Chadha confirmed his decision to exit the party led by Arvind Kejriwal. Addressing a press conference alongside Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, Chadha cited internal differences and alleged suppression of his voice within the party.

“My own party silenced me,” Chadha said, while also expressing praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a move that could have far-reaching political implications, Chadha claimed that nearly two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs are backing the decision to merge with the BJP. “We have decided that we, the two-thirds members belonging to AAP in the Rajya Sabha, will exercise the provisions of the Constitution of India and merge ourselves with the BJP,” he stated.
