MUSCAT — The CPA, through its Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate, has successfully mediated an amicable settlement in a dispute between a consumer and a vehicle import and sales establishment in Wilayat Al Suwaiq.
The case involved a complaint filed by a consumer who had agreed to purchase a vehicle for RO 2,850 and paid an advance of RO 2,000 based on agreed specifications. The establishment, however, failed to deliver the vehicle on time and did not refund the amount despite repeated requests, prompting the consumer to seek termination of the contract and recovery of the advance payment.
Following the complaint, the CPA’s office in Al Suwaiq summoned both parties and reviewed the details of the dispute in line with applicable procedures. An amicable settlement was ultimately reached, requiring the establishment to refund the full advance payment of RO 2,000 to the consumer.
