MUSCAT : The ministry said it has observed that some libraries, document copying shops, Sanad Service Centres, transaction follow-up offices, and similar establishments are offering services of a legal nature.
These include drafting statements of claim and legal memoranda, providing legal advice, preparing contracts and facilitating their notarisation before relevant authorities, as well as handling company incorporation procedures.
It stressed that such activities fall under advocacy and legal consultancy work, which are restricted professions that may only be carried out by licensed law firms and legal consultancy offices approved by the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, in accordance with Royal Decree No. 41/2024 issuing the Advocacy and Legal Consultancy Law.
The ministry called on all relevant establishments to comply fully with the law and to immediately cease providing any form of legal services. It warned that violators will be subject to legal measures under applicable legislation.
