HONG KONG : The euro settled at $1.1782 and the pound sterling traded at $1.35225, down about 0.1 percent for both today.
The risk-sensitive Australian dollar fell 0.1 percent to US$0.7171 in early trading.
The dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against a basket of currencies, including the yen and the euro, settled at 98.087 after falling 0.2 percent yesterday.
The yen settled at 158.955 against the dollar, hovering near the 160 level which traders consider a threshold for intervention.
The New Zealand dollar was trading at US$0.59085, up 0.3 percent.
