Oman and France hold strategic talks, underscore dialogue in regional stability efforts

The Sultanate of Oman and France have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors following the first round of strategic dialogue held in Paris.

PARIS – The Omani delegation was led by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, while the French side was headed by His Excellency Martin Briens, Secretary General of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The talks underscored the depth of the strategic partnership between Oman and France, with both sides reviewing avenues to expand cooperation, particularly in economic and investment sectors, energy security, culture, education, and training.

Officials from both countries also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the ongoing crisis in the Gulf region, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective means to address challenges and achieve sustainable solutions. They emphasized the importance of all concerned parties returning to negotiations.

On the sidelines of the dialogue, the two governments signed an agreement allowing spouses of official employees to obtain work permits. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa Al Harthy and His Excellency Martin Briens.

The session was attended by senior officials from both sides, including His Excellency Munther bin Mahfoudh Al Manthari, Head of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Araimi, Oman’s Ambassador to France; and His Excellency Nabil Hajlaoui, France’s Ambassador to Oman, along with other representatives from the two countries.
