MUSCAT : Oman Basketball Association has announced the launch of the Athlete Preparation Centers League, scheduled to take place from 24 April to 16 May. This initiative aims to strengthen national talent development pathways and establish greater integration between the educational and sporting sectors as part of the association’s ongoing development programs.

The association pointed out that the league will feature six training centers, which were established in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth over the past several years across a number of governorates in the Sultanate of Oman. These include: A’Seeb Sports Club and Al Amerat Sports Club centers in Muscat Governorate; Nizwa Sports Club and Al Bashayer Sports Club centers in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate; Salalah Sports Club center in Dhofar Governorate; and Sohar Sports Club center in North Al Batinah Governorate.

The centers will collectively include 150 players, with 25 players per center, alongside 14 national coaches. The league matches will be hosted at the secondary hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

Matches will be held every Friday and Saturday, with each center playing two matches per week, within a technical framework focused on player development, skill refinement, and the acquisition of competitive experience—aligning with the objectives of the Athlete Preparation Centers in discovering and nurturing talent.
