MUSCAT – Under the agreement, at least 50 patients annually will receive non-surgical and orthodontic treatment free of charge over a five-year period. Services will include dental examinations, preventive care, restorative treatment, simple tooth extractions, as well as orthodontic assessment and treatment.
The total cost of the programme is estimated at approximately RO 1.25 million, with the cost of treating a single patient reaching around RO 5,000 over the course of care.
The memorandum aims to leverage the academic and clinical expertise of the Oman Dental College – the first specialised dental education institution in Oman – which plays a key role in training medical professionals and providing advanced services in oral and maxillofacial care, including treatment of congenital conditions such as cleft lip and palate.
The agreement also includes coordination with Khoula Hospital for cases requiring surgical intervention or advanced medical care, ensuring integrated treatment pathways for patients.
The memorandum was signed by Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Alawi, Director General of Khoula Hospital, and Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Issa Al-Ismaili, Acting Dean of the Oman College of Dentistry.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to strengthen collaboration with academic institutions and improve the quality and accessibility of specialized healthcare services across Oman.
