WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh and stark warning to Iran as his self-imposed deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz approaches, suggesting that a decisive and potentially historic turning point could unfold within hours.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump warned of catastrophic consequences, stating that an entire civilisation could be at risk if tensions escalate further.
“I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” he wrote, while indicating that the situation could also pave the way for sweeping political change in Iran.
