MUSCAT – The programme aims to enhance joint work in statistical research, capacity building, and knowledge exchange across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The programme covers several areas, including the exchange of studies and research, specialized training programs, joint scientific conferences and workshops, and technical and advisory visits, aimed at strengthening integration in supporting joint Gulf statistical initiatives.

Both parties have also agreed to form a joint committee to monitor the implementation of these initiatives and develop a roadmap to build an integrated Gulf statistical knowledge society, enhancing the use of data to support development strategies in the GCC.

The cooperation aligns with the 2026–2030 strategic plan for joint Gulf statistical work, which seeks to create a smart and reliable statistical system, foster scientific and academic partnerships, and develop qualified statistical professionals capable of leveraging data science and advanced analytics for policy-making across the GCC.

Officials pointed out that the programme reflects the Statistical Centre’s commitment to expanding partnerships with academic and research institutions, bridging statistical knowledge, research, and practical applications to support regional development and decision-making.
