LAHORE : In an official statement, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) confirmed that Fakhar Zaman was found guilty of a Level 3 offence under Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The breach occurred during the match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings on Sunday.

The decision was taken after a disciplinary hearing conducted by Match Referee Roshan Mahanama, who reviewed all available evidence before arriving at the verdict. As a result, Zaman will serve a two-match suspension in the ongoing HBL PSL.

The controversy unfolded during a crucial phase of the match when Zaman was seen in discussion with teammate Haris Rauf and captain Shaheen Shah Afridi shortly before an over. Moments later, umpire Faisal Afridi requested the ball for inspection. After examining it alongside his colleague, the officials concluded that the condition of the ball had been altered.

Lahore Qalandars were penalised five runs for the offence, and the ball was replaced. The penalty proved decisive, shifting the momentum of the game.

Karachi Kings, who were left needing nine runs in the final over, capitalised on the advantage. All-rounder Abbas Afridi sealed the victory in dramatic fashion, striking Rauf for a boundary and a six after the bowler had earlier delivered a wide.
