MUSCAT — Tarik Sektioui set out an ambitious roadmap for Omani football on Monday, declaring his aim is not just participation but winning titles, as he addressed the media for the first time since taking charge of the national team.
Speaking at his inaugural press conference, the Moroccan coach said his priority is to build a competitive and cohesive side guided by a clear strategic vision.
“What we want is not just participation, but to achieve titles by building a competitive and united team that works according to a clear strategy,” Sektioui said.

He stressed that developing a strong football identity will be central to his approach in the coming phase, adding that long-term planning will underpin the team’s progress.
Sektioui also highlighted youth development as a key pillar of his project, noting that age-group football will not be overlooked.
“I have many ideas to develop the Omani national team, and youth competitions, especially under-20 levels, are important to me,” he said.
The new coach emphasised that building a successful national team requires a structured pathway from grassroots to the senior squad, with a focus on nurturing talent and ensuring continuity.
He added that achieving the desired progress would require collective effort from all stakeholders involved in Omani football.
