Nestlé reports 12 tons of KitKat stolen in Europe hijacking; 413,793 bars missing

Chocolate maker KitKat has confirmed that 12 tonnes of its products were stolen while in transit between central Italy and Poland, in an incident currently under investigation.

MUSCAT – In an official statement, the brand, produced by Nestlé, said the shipment – comprising 413,793 bars from its new range – departed from a factory in central Italy but never reached its intended destination in Poland.

The company said it is working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners to determine the circumstances surrounding the theft.

Despite the scale of the incident, KitKat reassured consumers that there are no safety concerns related to the stolen products and confirmed that overall supply has not been affected.
