NEW DELHI : Temperatures are rising rapidly in cities such as Indore, reaching 35°C and signaling the onset of summer-like conditions. Clear skies, low wind speeds, and prolonged dry weather are contributing to the heat, making afternoons particularly intense for residents.

The unusual rise in temperatures at this time of year has already begun to affect daily routines, with many people choosing to stay indoors during peak hours and increasing their reliance on cooling systems. Meteorologists estimate that temperatures could rise by a further 2–3°C in the coming days, intensifying early summer conditions.

Weather systems such as the jet stream, weak western disturbances, and regional air circulation patterns are playing a key role in driving this trend. Officials have advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take necessary precautions as the region braces for a potentially prolonged heatwave.

Beyond daily discomfort, rising temperatures are also impacting agriculture and water resources. Farmers in surrounding areas have raised concerns about soil moisture depletion and crop stress, particularly for early summer crops. Experts warn that continued heat could increase irrigation demand and put additional pressure on local water supplies.

Health authorities have also urged caution, highlighting the risk of heat-related illnesses such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke. Hospitals are preparing for a potential rise in cases, particularly among vulnerable groups.
