DOHA — At least six people were killed after a Qatari military helicopter crashed in the country’s territorial waters, authorities said, attributing the incident to a technical malfunction.
Seven individuals were on board at the time of the crash. Qatar’s interior ministry said on Sunday that search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the remaining missing person.
In an earlier statement, the defence ministry said the helicopter encountered a technical fault during a routine mission, which led to the crash in regional waters.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the cause of the malfunction, and an investigation into the incident is expected.
