Muscat: In an official statement issued today, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, denounced the Iranian attack on a major gas facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. He described the strike as a clear violation of international law, the principles of good neighborliness, and a breach of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.

Aboul Gheit also condemned the reported Iranian drone and missile attacks targeting Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and locations within the United Arab Emirates. He reiterated the Arab League’s full solidarity with Gulf states, affirming their right to take all necessary measures to safeguard their citizens and critical infrastructure.

Jamal Rushdi, spokesperson for the Secretary-General, emphasized that targeting oil and gas facilities in the Arabian Gulf marks a serious and unjustifiable escalation. He warned that such actions could lead to unforeseen consequences and further heighten tensions in an already volatile region.
